When a novel coronavirus arose in late 2019 in China, the world would be forever changed. The virus spread all across the globe and has impacted millions.

In early March, the effects really began to be felt in the United States as widespread lockdowns began to limit the spread of the virus. The world as we all knew it came to a halt, and we were all forced to adapt to the new reality.

Here in New York City, where Layr is based, the impact of the virus is nearly incomprehensible. To today’s date (May 26th) there have been 199,000 cases confirmed of Coronavirus. If New York City was its own country, the city would have the 7th most cases in the world; a harrowing reality.

While we at Layr are trying to perform business as close to normal as possible, we have taken extensive precautions to ensure that our customers receive the safest possible service. Our office has remained empty since early March as we have enacted work-from-home measures to preserve the health of the Layr team.

In accordance with the Standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, our “Safety Committee” has ensured that we have a regulated and organized safety process as it pertains to COVID-19. The coordinators of this effort are Founder and CEO William Pulman and Project Manager Robert Swab.

Though our office team at Layr has been working from home, this same policy obviously cannot be applied for our field team. In order to ensure safety for our clients and workers distinct policies are being followed throughout the tri-state area:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and will be provided to anyone on the job site.
  • Individual hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes have been provided to all employees.
  • If any team member displays symptoms of COVID-19, they must inform the Chief Operations Officer, Human Relations Manager, and their direct manager.
  • If symptoms are displayed, the individual must self-quarantine at home for 14 days and will be allowed to return to work once they have written medical clearance from a physician stating that they are symptom-free and cleared to return to work.

If you have any questions about Layr’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. Stay safe.
